Stonehenge, Basking Shark & King Arthur's Castle
Mystical England & Basking Shark Expedition
Snorkeling with Basking Sharks Cetorhinus maximus
Basking sharks are the second largest shark on the planet. The latin name rhinus means nose and is used in latin to also describe whales and rhinos. The latin name maximus means great. A basking shark is a filter feeder just like its larger cousin the whale shark. June in Cornwall England is one of the best places in the world to swim with these gentle harmless creatures.
We will explore King Arthur's Castle, and beautiful Conrwall summer feeding grounds for basking shark. We have the most experienced captain chartered for 3 days of basking shark snorkel expeditions. We are going at the peak of the basking shark season, and at the best time of the year for flat calm ocean. Leatherback turtles, dolphins & whales are also often seen in these waters at this time of the year. The Gulf Stream currect brings clear warm water and lots of food for the sharks, turtles and dolphins. Orca have been spotted here quite often too.
CHEPSTOW CASTLE in the country of WALES
Summer temperatures can range from blazing hot 100°F down to a cool 65°F if the North wind picks up, but there is always something to see and explore in any weather. June is the best time of the year to visit England's beautiful sandy beaches and explore the rugged green hills and granite cliff tops. Pretty fishing villages and harbour towns are everywhere.
KYNANCE COVE CORNWALL
The average summer water temperature ranges from 16°C (60°F) to 20°C (70°F) and the area has some beautiful beaches. Cornwall is very popular for sailing, surfing, kite boarding, wind surfing, fishing, water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking, and some of the most spectacular WWII wreck diving on the planet.

THE SEALS ARE FRIENDLY
The summer daylight hours are long at 50-51 degrees latitude. It starts to get light around 3.30am and is not really dark before 11pm... These long summer days are excellent for exploring, and photographic opportunities are never ending. The twighlight hour (or golden hour) just before sunset is my favorite time of all to take photos.
A BREECHING BASKING SHARK
Wickwar our home away from home: Wichen or Wyken, simply meaning "a settlement" (later shortened to Wick), originated in the Saxon period, though there are Roman remains in the area. In the Domesday Book the village contained about 30 families and was worth £12 – a prosperous village for the time. The settlement would have been by the church, which is now on the very edge of the village. The present geography is explained by the fact that in 1285 Roger de la Warre, whose ancestor John had been granted the manor in 1185, obtained a charter for a market from Edward I and created a new planned settlement, now the High Street, which became known as Wickwar.

Wickwar's links with tobacco and Jamestown USA: Established in the early 1600’s, Jamestown was Britain’s first colony on the American mainland. It survived primarily through the efforts of Thomas de la Warr and the introduction of tobacco.
Descended from an old Wickwar family, renowned for their soldierly skills, de la Warre prevented Jamestown’s abandonment and subsequently had the Delaware tribe, river and state all named after him.

June, and summer solctice, is the best time to visit England & Wales:
Stonehenge, is a prehistoric monument. It is one of the most famous sites in the world. The henge is composed of earthworks surrounding a circular setting of large upright standing stones which sit at the center of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments. There are also several hundred burial mounds in the area. This is the original area where crop circles appeared. In the summer months this is still a hot spot for viewing these amazing creations by unknown artists. Stonehenge is a UNESCO world heritage site.
We will travel through Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Avon into South Gloucestershire. Where we will stay in the heart of the Cotswold countryside. We'll visit Chipping Sodbury, the Roman city of Bath, Avbury stone circle, Silbury Hill, the Vale of the White Horse, Warminster Triangle, & Stonehenge. We will take an afternoon hike through the Cotswold countryside, and visit the country of Wales and the magnificent riverside Chepstow Castle (1067).

AVEBURY STONE CIRCLE
Avebury circle, shown from the air, is a Neolithic monument built from about 2800 to 2700 bc, during the Bronze Age in Britain. An embankment and a ditch enclose a large ceremonial area in which there are several circles of stones and a village. Many of the stones were removed for use in construction as the village expanded during the 17th century. Avebury is a UNESCO world heritage site.

We will be staying in the heart of the beautiful green English countryside, in quality bed & breakfast accomodations. I have chosen areas of outstanding natural beauty and conservation areas protected from development. You are going to fall in love with these places.
AREAS OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY
Step back in time and experience culture and the arts in a dramatic setting. Carved from the cliffs is the Minack Theatre. No words can describe the sheer beauty of this place. You better make sure you have enough memory cards for your camera becasue they will be full guaranteed.
THE MINACK THEATRE
The first of our cozy English hideaway's is located on the edge of the Cotswold hills close to Chipping Sodbury and Wotton-Under-Edge. The mystical Warminster Triangle is close by. Ancient stone age burial mounds are common in this area too, and the famous Cotswold Way runs right through the hills that are the backdrop to the village. You are surrounded by beautiful green countryside and pretty hedgerows. This is ideal countryside for walking and horse back riding. I'll gladly take you exploring over the fields I grew up walking as a kid, with my Grandfather and his dog Fergus, and riding my horse Fleur

Local amenities in the village include the local pub, with a nice restaurant that serves breakfast lunch and dinner daily; the social club bar; a small newspaper store; a small grocery store that that also sells wine and beer; a post office; a brewery; a hair salon; and the oldest working Town Hall clock in Britain! I grew up hearing it chime every hour.Town Hall clock:
